It's the faculty and staff members of Cordova Middle School, who share a goal of teaching students to use their minds to reason logically, senses to communicate effectively, hearts to live responsibly and compassionately, and hands to produce quality activities and products. The school's comprehensive academic standards reinforce the lifetime habits and skills that are necessary for life in the 21st century.
Cordova Middle School is not just a place for anybody; it's a place for everybody. The school has a lot to offer: teachers recognized for excellence, award-winning choir and band programs, film and video classes, strings, and championship athletic teams.
A unique optional program thrives for students in grades 5-8. Innovative teaching and learning strategies such as Renaissance Learning in Reading and Math, exploratory classes in art, two state of the art computer labs, and differentiated instruction drive the day-to-day class activities. Students work in 21st Century classrooms using technology and a hands-on approach to develop problem-solving skills and enhance learning.

Challenging Curriculum
Twenty-first century classrooms equipped with student computer work stations and science labs are features of the school. Flexible scheduling and co-curricular exploratory programs add the the multidimensional instruction that is provided.
Middle school guidance counselors work with classroom groups as well as individual students to enhance self-esteem and encourage success.

Requirements
All students living within school boundaries qualify to attend Cordova Middle School's optional program.
- Students living outside boundaries must apply for an optional transfer at the Board of Education, 2597 Avery Avenue, Room 106.
- Parents are required to provide copy of the student's most recent report card and most recent (within the last year) standardized achievement test scores.
- The report card must reflect A or B averages, satisfactory conduct, and not more that 15 absences and/or tardies.
- Standardized achievement test scores must be at the 70th percentile or above in total reading/reading composite and total math/math composite.
- To remain in the program, students must maintain an A or B average in all subjects, satisfactory conduct and work habits, and satisfactory attendance (including promptness to school).
